Chester, PA – The Chester Water Authority (CWA) draws its raw water from the Octoraro Reservoir and the Susquehanna River and treats it at the Octoraro Treatment Plant to provide safe, clean drinking water to our customers. In an effort to protect its drinking water, CWA is working with the Commonwealth’s Department of Environmental Protection to develop a Source Water Protection Plan. The goal of the Source Water Protection Plan, a voluntary program, is to better protect the groundwater and surface water within the watershed to help ensure the highest quality of water for our customers for decades to come.
As part of the development of the Source Water Protection Plan, CWA will be hosting a public meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Black Rock Retreat located at 1345 Kirkwood Pike in Quarryville, PA 17566. The meeting will take place in the Chestnut Meeting Room which is located in their Nature Center and directions can be obtained by calling 1-800-858-9299. A presentation will be provided to the attendees at this public meeting to provide further information on CWA’s Source Water Protection Plan.If you have any questions on this plan, please contact Lyn O’Hare at SSM Group, Inc. by phone at 610-621-2000, or by e-mail at lyn.ohare@ssmgroup.com.
