Chester Water Authority Provides Update on Water Main Repairs

Mar 27, 2026 | Announcements

Upper Chichester, PA [March 27, 2026] — The Chester Water Authority (CWA) is continuing to make steady, measured progress in response to the recent water main break located within an active construction zone along Route 322 near Cherry Tree Road in Upper Chichester Township. Crews remain focused on stabilizing the system and restoring reliable service to affected communities.

Significant progress has been made in installing the necessary components to isolate the leaking sections of the damaged main. To support and accelerate repairs, two specialty contractors are on site assisting CWA crews. CWA remains in close coordination with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) and continues to keep the agency fully informed as work progresses.

“We are making steady progress toward isolating the damaged section of the main and moving into the next phase of repairs,” said Darryl Jenkins, Executive Manager of Chester Water Authority. “Alongside specialized contractors, our team is working around the clock with a focus on safety and restoring service as quickly as possible. We appreciate our customers’ patience and encourage everyone to stay informed through our official communication channels.”

Customers directly impacted are receiving updates through the Customer Information System (CIS) via the myCWA portal: https://mycwa.chesterwater.com. Broader communications will continue through CWA’s website, social media platforms, and Delaware County’s reverse 911 system for residents who are registered. Those wishing to sign up for alerts with the reverse 911 system can do so at: https://www.delcopa.gov/delcoalert.

Additional updates will be shared as soon as the leak is fully isolated, including information on system status and estimated timelines for full restoration.

A boil water advisory remains in effect, issued Thursday afternoon, March 26, 2026, for residents in Upper Chichester, Lower Chichester, Marcus Hook, and Twin Oaks. Customers outside of these areas do not need to take action. While some nearby areas may experience low water pressure, boiling water is only necessary within the advisory zone.

To assist residents, three water trucks are available 24 hours a day for the duration of the situation at the following locations:

  • Upper Chichester Township Municipal Building, 8500 Furey Rd, Upper Chichester
  • Marcus Hook Borough Administrative Office, 1111 Market Street, Marcus Hook
  • Ogden Fire Company, 4300 Naamans Creek Rd, Boothwyn

All who are making use of the water filling stations are reminded to bring their own containers. CWA will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
