The Chester Water Authority (CWA) is pleased to announce that the boil water advisory issued on March 26, 2026, following a water main break in Upper Chichester Township, has been lifted. The issue has been fully resolved, and it is no longer necessary for customers to boil their water before use.
The water main break originated within an active PennDOT construction zone along Route 322 near Cherry Tree Road in Upper Chichester Township. CWA conducted the
necessary repairs, system stabilization, and water quality testing to ensure that drinking water meets all safety standards. Customers may now resume normal water use with confidence. For additional information, visit the Authority’s website at https://chesterwater.com/.
“We want to extend our sincere gratitude to our ratepayers and employees for their patience, resilience, and support during the recent emergency,” said Darryl Jenkins, Executive Manager of Chester Water Authority. “This was one of the most significant water main breaks our organization has faced in the last 50 years, and it presented very real challenges for our communities. Despite the added complexity of the location, our team responded quickly, isolated the issue, stabilized the system, and restored service safely and efficiently.”
Jenkins added, “We are incredibly proud of our employees, whose long hours, expertise, and commitment ensured success. From repair crews and operations staff to those coordinating water distribution and public communication, every team member played a critical role. To our ratepayers, we are very grateful for your understanding and cooperation. Your support allowed us to focus on restoring safe, reliable service. Moments like this remind us of the strength of our community and the importance of working together.”
