CHROMIUM-6 STATEMENT

CHESTER, PA: -In response to various media articles referencing chromium-6, CWA would like to assure our customers and the public that our drinking water is safe. CWA did monitoring for chromium-6 as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Chester Water Authority (CWA) is in compliance with a 2012 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rule to monitor for total chromium and chromium-6 (hexavalent chromium) for 4 consecutive quarters between 2013-2015. View the Press Release

DROUGHT WATCH IN EFFECT FOR DELAWARE AND CHESTER COUNTIES

CHESTER, PA: - On September 6, 2016, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) expanded the drought watch declaration to include Delaware and Chester Counties due to low stream flows, declining groundwater levels, and a lack of precipitation. Under a drought watch, everyone is asked to reduce water usage by 5% through voluntary conservation efforts.

The Chester Water Authority (CWA) is asking its customers to continue their current conservation efforts and to implement additional ways to save water. View the Press Release

CHESTER WATER AUTHORITY ADDS ONLINE BILL PAYMENT OPTION

CHESTER, PA: - Chester Water Authority announced August 11th the launch of an online payment option for its customers. In addition to traditional mail and phone billing systems, residents can now log on to www.ChesterWater.com and make payments using credit cards, debit cards, and e-checks. The new payment option comes with step-by-step instructions to ensure ease of use for customers. A prominent Pay Bill Online button appears on the Authority's website and an example bill is provided so users know exactly where to find the information they need to make a payment. Chester Water Authority Marks 150th Anniversary

CHESTER, PA: The Chester Water Authority (CWA) -- a municipal authority that provides water service to more than 200,000 residents and businesses in southern Chester County, western Delaware County, and the City of Chester -- is celebrating its 150th Anniversary this month. Chester, PA - July 31, 2015: The Chester Water Authority's (CWA) Octoraro treatment plant has been selected to receive the prestigious Area Wide Optimization Program (AWOP) Award for the 8th consecutive year. CHESTER WATER AUTHORITY REPRESENTS PENNSYLVANIA IN NATIONAL WATER TASTE TEST

Chester, PA - July 31, 2015: The Chester Water Authority (CWA) was a recent participant in a national water taste test held at the American Water Works Association's (AWWA) national convention in Anaheim, California. Now in its 11th year, AWWA's "Best of the Best" Tap Water Taste Test gave participants from across the country and from the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico an opportunity to showcase the high quality of drinking water that they provide to their customers. Although CWA did not win this competition, we were proud to be nominated as the Pennsylvania representative. CWA personnel will be flushing the water system by opening fire hydrants within our service territory. Please note that all hydrant flushing will be performed during nighttime hours so as to provide minimal disruption to our valued customers. Please note that all personnel conducting this work will be in CWA uniforms and company marked vehicles. View the Press Release

Chester Water Authority to Hold Public Meeting on its Source Water Protection Plan on July 14, 2015

Chester, PA - The Chester Water Authority (CWA) draws its raw water from the Octoraro Reservoir and the Susquehanna River and treats it at the Octoraro Treatment Plant to provide safe, clean drinking water to our customers. In an effort to protect its drinking water, CWA is working with the Commonwealth's Department of Environmental Protection to develop a Source Water Protection Plan. The goal of the Source Water Protection Plan, a voluntary program, is to better protect the groundwater and surface water within the watershed to help ensure the highest quality of water for our customers for decades to come.

As part of the development of the Source Water Protection Plan, CWA will be hosting a public meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Black Rock Retreat located at 1345 Kirkwood Pike in Quarryville, PA 17566. The meeting will take place in the Chestnut Meeting Room which is located in their Nature Center and directions can be obtained by calling 1-800-858-9299. A presentation will be provided to the attendees at this public meeting to provide further information on CWA's Source Water Protection Plan.
